{"id":1932,"date":"2026-03-29T18:01:42","date_gmt":"2026-03-29T18:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=1932"},"modified":"2026-03-29T18:01:43","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T18:01:43","slug":"270m-e-3-sentry-spy-plane-demolished-by-iranian-attack-at-saudi-air-base-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=1932","title":{"rendered":"$270M E-3 Sentry spy plane demolished by Iranian attack at Saudi air base: photos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aircraft-primarily-used-air-traffic-124667790.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1933\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aircraft-primarily-used-air-traffic-124667790.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aircraft-primarily-used-air-traffic-124667790-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aircraft-primarily-used-air-traffic-124667790-768x512.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An American E-3 Sentry was destroyed during\u00a0Iran\u2019s attack on the Prince Sultan air base\u00a0in Saudi Arabia, according to US officials and new photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Viral images circulated online and verified by the AFP show the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System Aircraft (AWACS) ripped in two following Friday\u2019s missile and drone assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The destruction of the $270 million aircraft is a significant blow to America\u2019s ability to get a real-time picture of battle and assess incoming attacks in the Middle East, retired Air Force Col.\u00a0John Venable told The Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s a huge deal,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cIt hurts the US\u2019s ability to see what\u2019s happening in the Gulf and maintain situational awareness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aircraft-primarily-used-air-traffic-124667789.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1934\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aircraft-primarily-used-air-traffic-124667789.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aircraft-primarily-used-air-traffic-124667789-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aircraft-primarily-used-air-traffic-124667789-768x512.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The US Air Force had just 16 E-3 Sentry aircraft in circulation prior to Friday\u2019s attack, six of which were stationed at the Prince Sultan Airbase, according to Air &amp; Space Magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">US Central Command has yet to comment on the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Twelve US service members were also&nbsp;reportedly injured after an Iranian missile and multiple drones hit the air base.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least two of the wounded service members are considered to be seriously wounded, the\u00a0Wall Street Journal reported, citing US and Arab officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Multiple US refueling aircraft were&nbsp; also damaged in the attack. At least one KC135 Air refueling plane was hit and reportedly caught fire, a senior US official told Fox News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The American airbase has been repeatedly targeted by Iran\u2019s retaliatory attacks in the Gulf, with a previous assault damaging five refueling aircraft earlier this month.\u00a0Since the start of Operation Epic Fury on Feb. 28, about 303 US service members have been wounded and\u00a0at least 13 killed, according to CENTCOM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/2022-johnson-stands-photo-first-124668508.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1935\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/2022-johnson-stands-photo-first-124668508.webp 1000w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/2022-johnson-stands-photo-first-124668508-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/2022-johnson-stands-photo-first-124668508-768x432.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An American E-3 Sentry was destroyed during\u00a0Iran\u2019s attack on the Prince Sultan air base\u00a0in Saudi Arabia, according to US officials and new photos.
