{"id":2573,"date":"2026-07-11T17:50:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T17:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=2573"},"modified":"2026-07-11T17:53:38","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T17:53:38","slug":"baltimore-police-release-footage-of-officer-involved-shooting-in-south-baltimore-from-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=2573","title":{"rendered":"Baltimore police release footage of officer-involved shooting in South Baltimore from May"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday afternoon, the Baltimore Police Department released body-worn footage from the officer-involved shooting that occurred in South Baltimore on May 24th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police Commissioner Richard Worley and Deputy Commissioner Brian Nadeau of the Public Integrity&nbsp;&amp;&nbsp;Compliance Bureau gave an update about the incident during the press conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police say a man was killed and an officer was shot late that evening near the 3400 block of S. Hanover St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officers were investigating a call from two days prior about a suspect firing at least 15 rounds at people near Reed Bird Island Park in Baltimore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The body-camera footage shows the perspective of the incident from five officers at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One officer is seen talking to the suspect and then the suspect stands up and attempts to pull out a firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officers can be heard yelling, &#8220;Drop the gun&#8221; many times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspect fires at the officers as he backs up into the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which then led to the officers firing 39 rounds at the suspect, according to police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Worley said all officers involved are on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police say the officers involved were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sergeant Timothy Copeland, an 18-year veteran<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detective Nicholas Wellems, a 10-year veteran<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Officer Brandall Mable, a 6-year veteran<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Officer Nicolas Sturla, a 4-year veteran<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Officer Kevin Retamales, a 3-year veteran<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All officers are assigned to the Southern District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"400\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 640 \/ 400;\" width=\"640\" controls src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_9918.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday afternoon, the Baltimore Police Department released body-worn footage from the officer-involved shooting that occurred in South Baltimore on May 24th.
