{"id":2590,"date":"2026-07-23T10:33:41","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T10:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=2590"},"modified":"2026-07-23T10:33:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T10:33:42","slug":"nypd-officers-shoot-suspect-who-attempted-to-stab-an-officer-with-a-knife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=2590","title":{"rendered":"NYPD Officers Shoot Suspect Who Attempted To Stab an Officer With a Knife"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"480\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 576 \/ 480;\" width=\"576\" controls src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_1087.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harrowing bodycam video shows the moment a knife-wielding maniac charged at unsuspecting NYPD officers inside a Roosevelt Island apartment building last month \u2014 seconds before he was killed in a hail of gunfire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a021-year-old assailant tried to corner three cops\u00a0inside the 540 Main St. elevator on Aug. 5 and showed no signs of stopping when they displayed their weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The disturbing footage shows the man storming toward one female officer, who pushed a Taser into his chest as a warning sign but ultimately didn\u2019t discharge the weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two colleagues that flanked her\u00a0quickly pulled their triggers, blasting the young man with more than a dozen rounds, and the video shows he initially survived and continued waving the knife as he lay on the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDrop the knife!\u201d officers can be heard screaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man was later taken by EMS to a local hospital where he died from his wounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His identity has not yet been released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fatal encounter unfolded within a matter of seconds, according to the video,\u00a0which was released as part of the state Attorney General\u2019s investigation\u00a0into the police-involved shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The officers had been inside the building after receiving multiple 911 calls from the man\u2019s relatives who said he was threatening them with a knife<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/maxresdefault-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/maxresdefault-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/maxresdefault-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/maxresdefault-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/maxresdefault-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 21-year-old flew out of an elevator and tried to stab a police officer who had his back turned.Office of the New York State Attorney General<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three had just entered one of the elevators and were preparing to ride it to the man\u2019s floor, while two others were trying to prop open the lobby door with fliers in anticipation of backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A sixth cop watching his colleagues work on the door had his back turned when a second elevator came down and the assailant flew out with the knife raised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bodycam shows the maniac trying to slash the unsuspecting cop before turning toward the three who were cornered in the elevator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Multiple people can be heard screaming nonsensically, though none clearly shouted warnings at the unhinged man until after he was peppered with bullets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Witnesses said the succession of shots was so quick that they assumed fireworks had gone off in the quiet neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspect\u2019s relative told police the man was off his medication and under the influence of marijuana, Deputy Chief Christine Bastedenbeck told reporters the night of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Attorney General\u2019s investigation into the deadly shooting is still ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Harrowing bodycam video shows the moment a knife-wielding maniac charged at unsuspecting NYPD officers inside a Roosevelt Island apartment building last month \u2014 seconds before he was killed in a &hellip;
