{"id":2659,"date":"2026-08-20T12:00:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T12:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=2659"},"modified":"2026-08-20T12:00:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T12:00:13","slug":"bodycam-video-released-of-may-shooting-that-wounded-hpd-officer-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=2659","title":{"rendered":"Bodycam video released of May shooting that wounded HPD officer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"640\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 352 \/ 640;\" width=\"352\" controls src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2640062100666354962.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/houstonpolice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Houston Police Department<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday released body cam video of a\u00a0shooting that wounded a police officer\u00a0outside a southeast Houston gas station earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 4, officers pulled over a man later identified as Jimmy Bryan, 23, in the 14300 block of the Gulf Freeway at Astoria Boulevard. After a few minutes of conversation seen in the video, officers asked Bryan to get out of his truck. That\u2019s when he pulled out a gun and opened fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The video may be disturbing to watch and contains violent scenes. You can\u00a0view the videos on the HPD YouTube page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bodycam videos were released as\u00a0part of a new department policy to release bodycam<a href=\"https:\/\/www.khou.com\/article\/news\/crime\/houston-body-camera-policy-police-reform-announcement-thursday-mayor-turner\/285-9859fd49-6410-4c6a-aa38-4016ca53c942\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0<\/a>videos from officer-involved shootings within 30 days of incidents involving a death or injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0HPD officer shot while trying to arrest suspect wanted in narcotics investigation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The officers shot back at Bryan, wounding him, but not before HPD Officer J. Sallee was hit twice, HPD said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sallee was struck in the lower pelvic area and was rushed to a hospital.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bryan was also hit and was taken to a hospital by ambulance and is still in the hospital, according to HPD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank God for his ballistic vest and flashlight,&#8221; HPD Chief Troy Finner said after the shooting. &#8220;I think it probably saved his life.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bryan is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a public servant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The traffic stop was part of a narcotics investigation, Houston police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"588\" height=\"330\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_2919.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2661\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_2919.jpeg 588w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_2919-300x168.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 588px) 100vw, 588px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Houston Police Department\u00a0on Tuesday released body cam video of a\u00a0shooting that wounded a police officer\u00a0outside a southeast Houston gas station earlier this month.
