Click here to watch<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officers got a call for a domestic battery from a passenger in a vehicle on I-57.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That passenger led the officers to find her boyfriend, 24-year-old Jalen Carpenter, in the 6500-block of South Champlain Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s where the newly released video picks up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ABC7 froze the video at the moment it appears Carpenter fires a weapon during a scuffle with the officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No one was hit by that bullet, but seconds later, the officers return fire, killing Carpenter, officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The officers are still on administrative status while the Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation investigates the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"597\" height=\"335\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-27.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2764\" style=\"width:735px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-27.png 597w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-27-300x168.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Illinois State Police have released videos showing a\u00a0deadly shooting involving state troopers\u00a0last month in Chicago.
