{"id":2774,"date":"2026-08-21T14:42:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T14:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=2774"},"modified":"2026-08-21T14:42:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T14:42:08","slug":"new-footage-emerges-of-fairground-ride-falling-apart-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=2774","title":{"rendered":"NEW footage emerges of fairground ride falling apart."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"640\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 512 \/ 640;\" width=\"512\" controls src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_8952.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What was meant to be a thrilling experience at the annual Chestival fair, hosted by the University of Chester, turned into a harrowing ordeal for attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 27, the &#8216;Superstar&#8217; fairground ride broke apart &#8211; sending debris hurtling through the air and leaving two people hospitalised, including a student who suffered a concussion and whiplash.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Footage of the nightmare incident, captured on video by a horrified attendee, shows a large panel breaking free of the fast-moving ride in Chester, Cheshire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The popular Superstar ride, dubbed a thrilling &#8216;whirlwind at super speed,&#8217; collided at The University of Chester&#8217;s Exton Park Campus,&nbsp;sending debris flying through the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a scene of chaos, the&nbsp;impact sent shattered glass flying in multiple directions &#8211; with adrenaline seekers fleeing for their lives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">North West Ambulance Service was called to the site after two people, who were later rushed to hospital, were reported injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One student who found herself caught in the rain of debris was 19-year-old Caitlin Colclough, from Kidsgrove, who was rushed to Countess of Chester Hospital.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Caitlin was struck by a large panel that came crashing down towards the ground, leaving the teenager with a concussion and whiplash as a result of the impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After being promptly rushed to hospital, Caitlin underwent a CT scan which revealed the extent of her injuries, according to her mother.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to\u00a0The Sun, Mandy Hancock, who spent the weekend in Chester caring for her daughter after the distressing ordeal, said: &#8216;I was crying my eyes out watching the video.\u00a0It has given me a few nightmares.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8216;The piece landed on them, but the ride kept going. I thought it would have had an emergency stop.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mother has now blasted the University and Students&#8217; Union for how they have handled the incident,&nbsp;after claiming her daughter has since received limited support.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms Hancock said: &#8216;All that the Students&#8217; Union published was that they were working with the Health and Safety Team.&nbsp;It&#8217;s disappointing how it has been handled post-accident. The support that has been in place has been very limited.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"634\" height=\"351\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-30.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2776\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-30.png 634w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-30-300x166.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to&nbsp;<a class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stokesentinel.co.uk\/news\/stoke-on-trent-news\/terrifying-moment-fairground-ride-breaks-9202156?_ga=2.254184584.1800563768.1712144319-5754770.1707987229\">StokeonTrentLive<\/a>, The Health and Safety Executive has since launched an investigation into the incident.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jamie Morris, Chief Executive Officer of Chester Students&#8217; Union, said: &#8216;There was an incident involving a fairground ride at Chestival on Wednesday 27 March, and the ride was closed immediately.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8216;Two students were taken to&nbsp;hospital as a precaution and were discharged on the same day. Both the Students&#8217; Union and the University&#8217;s Wellbeing team has been in close contact with the students throughout to offer support.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added: &#8216;The incident has been reported to the HSE to pick up with the external ride operator as necessary.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In April 2023, two children were injured after reportedly being &#8216;flung&#8217; from a Surrey fairground ride\u00a0called The Froggitt and flown by air ambulance to a London hospital &#8211; sparking a police investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What was meant to be a thrilling experience at the annual Chestival fair, hosted by the University of Chester, turned into a harrowing ordeal for attendees.
