FRESNO, Calif. \u2014 Fresno police on Friday released body-worn camera and surveillance footage of what they said was a man pistol whipping his ex-girlfriend and trying to shoot her before an officer fired several rounds at him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0shooting ended in the arrest of Martin Campos, 32, of Fresno, who was not struck by any gunfire from officers, according to police. Reached by phone on Friday, his attorney declined to comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Campos\u00a0has been charged\u00a0with 11 counts including attempted murder on the woman as well as several more child abuse and firearms crimes by the Fresno County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At about 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, Campos struck the woman with a gun while she sat in a car and he stood outside of it in a parking lot at Shields Avenue and First Street, according to surveillance video released by police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Audio from a 911 call recorded the woman\u2019s conversation with a dispatcher, according to police. She said her ex-boyfriend hit her in the head with a gun before she drove away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think he busted my head open. I\u2019m gushing out blood and he\u2019s following me, right behind me,\u201d she can be heard saying in the audio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman told the dispatcher she had a child in the back seat. Campos followed her in a separate car as she made the call to 911, and then chased her south on Highway 41, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man struck her car as she drove toward Highway 99 and Jensen Avenue, police said. At one point he could be heard yelling threats at her as she was on the phone with the dispatcher. She can be heard telling the man that she\u2019s bleeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m gonna kill you, I don\u2019t give a (expletive),\u201d he can be heard saying in the audio, according to police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sergeant in the area saw the cars in the pursuit going west on Jensen and he headed to the incident, video shows. As the woman stops behind other cars in a left turn lane at Elm Avenue, the officer stops behind her while the man is stopped on the passenger\u2019s side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He then fired a round into her car, police said. Slowed down footage appears to show him holding a gun out the window and a bullet hole is visible on the rear driver\u2019s side window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The child was in the rear passenger\u2019s side, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman reacted to the gunfire by putting the car into reverse, but collided with the sergeant\u2019s patrol car, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sergeant can be seen exiting his patrol car and yelling commands as he appears to empty two clips of ammunition into the man\u2019s car. Other officers arrived and the man surrendered, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
