Michael Craig, 61, was shot and killed by a Chicago police officer during the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video, officers are directed to the residence by the couple\u2019s son \u2014 who told the officers that his mother had a knife and his father told him to call police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/933E43FA22F845C290F006B97B21BE37-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-730\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/933E43FA22F845C290F006B97B21BE37-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/933E43FA22F845C290F006B97B21BE37-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/933E43FA22F845C290F006B97B21BE37-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/933E43FA22F845C290F006B97B21BE37.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As the officers are ascending the stairs, bodycam footage shows the shooting officer take out his taser. Right before the officer entered, Craig can be heard saying \u201cshe has a butcher knife.\u201d Then, a loud scream is heard as officers entered the residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Craig was shot while on the ground next to his wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The family\u2019s attorney\u00a0said he may have been holding a knife, but most likely managed to take it away from his wife \u2014 who has a history of domestic abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Court records, obtained by WGN Investigates, show the wife was charged in 2016 with attempted murder, aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a press conference, Craig\u2019s adult son called for accountability and justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no more excuses, no more hiding, we\u2019re here,\u201d said Patrick Jenkins. \u201cWe know what happened, do your job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police recovered a knife in the apartment.
