{"id":785,"date":"2025-10-30T10:04:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T10:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=785"},"modified":"2025-10-30T10:04:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T10:04:09","slug":"surveillance-video-shows-deadly-shooting-of-special-police-officer-during-training-session-in-dc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.landingliker.info\/?p=785","title":{"rendered":"Surveillance video shows deadly shooting of special police officer during training session in DC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.letmilitary.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_2807-1024x665.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1341\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>New video obtained by FOX 5 shows the moment a retired-D.C.Lieutenant&nbsp;shot and killed&nbsp;25-year-old Maurica Manyan&nbsp;during a police training&nbsp;at Anacostia Library last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, the shooter was sentenced to three years in prison, but the family wants more to be done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maurica Manyan was a young mom, and a new homeowner on August 4, 2022 when she and a group of Special Police Officer trainees just finished baton training at the library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The training was being led by private contractor 59-year-old Jesse Porter. Following the training, the group gathered to take a photo. Manyan was in the middle of the group and turned around to remove her mask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video, Porter can be seen suddenly moving in from the side of the group, turning, drawing his gun, and shooting. Manyan was&nbsp;struck with a single bullet to the chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.letmilitary.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_2806.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1342\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone was in shock, including Porter, who throws his hands on top of his head in apparent disbelief. Porter\u2019s attorney says the retired police lieutenant thought he had a training gun. Manyan\u2019s family attorney says the city is partly to blame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe did not have any criminal intent, that it was not his intent to cause any harm to her on that day. He\u2019s acknowledged that what it is that he did was negligent. But it wasn\u2019t criminal. but he also accepted responsibility,\u201d said Brian McDaniel, Porter\u2019s attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time to make a change and to actually enforce policies that put safety at the forefront,\u201d said Latoya Francis-Williams, Manyan\u2019s family attorney.
