Quote from the IRGC: “The US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln was struck by four ballistic missiles.”

Details: In a statement, the IRGC also warned that “the land and sea will increasingly become the graveyard of the terrorist aggressors”.

Update: US Central Command has denied that the IRGC struck USS Abraham Lincoln in the Persian Gulf, stating in a post on X that the IRGC’s claim was a lie.

Quote from US Central Command: “The Lincoln was not hit. The missiles launched didn’t even come close. The Lincoln continues to launch aircraft in support of CENTCOM’s relentless campaign to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime”.

For reference: The Abraham Lincoln is a nuclear-powered US aircraft carrier, described by the US Navy as “the largest warship in the world”.

It is one of 10 US nuclear-powered carriers known as the Nimitz class.

The US Navy says Nimitz-class carriers span 333 metres and can carry about 100,000 tonnes of equipment, including 65 aircraft and multiple missile mounts.

USS Abraham Lincoln was sent to the Persian Gulf in late January as part of what US President Donald Trump called an “armada”, deployed to the region “just in case” astensions rose after Iran cracked down on protesters angry about the country’s economic situation.
